Zé Radiola Team

PunchStrong Academy are very proud to be part of the Zé Radiola Team.

 

ZR Team was founded in June 2016, immediately obtaining excellent results in National and International competitions.

 

ZR Team aims not only to train good athletes and fighters but to educate and direct children and young people to incorporate the true philosophy and spirit of Jiu-Jitsu.

 

At the helm of ZR Team is 4th grade black belt, student of the Master Carlos Gracie Jr., José Olímpio da Rocha Neto, better known as Zé Radiola.

 

Zé Radiola, professor and founder of the ZR Team, received his black belt in 2001.

José Olimpio

José Olympia, commonly known as "Zé Radiola", is a former professional surfer who became a pioneering figure for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil, having developed the most fruitful grappling academy in the region.

 

A black belt under Carlos Gracie Junior, José became the leader of the Gracie Barra Pernambuco Academy from where spawned numerous jiu jitsu standouts including Braulio Estima, Victor Estima and Otavio Sousa.

 

In 2016 José left Gracie Barra to form his own academy: ZR Team

 

During his career, José won numerous competitions, including:

 

  • 3rd Place - Brazilian Championships 1999
  • International Master Champion 2000
  • Pan American Champion 2000 (Absolute Category)
  • Brazilian Champion 2000
  • 3rd Place - Brazilian Championships 2000 (Absolute Category)
  • Featured Athlete Award - State of Pernambuco 2000
  • Pan American Champion 2001
  • 3rd Place - Pan American Championships 2001 (Absolute Category)
  • 3rd Place - International Master's Degree 2001
  • Pan American Champion 2002
  • 3rd Place - Pan American Championships (Absolute Category)
